Welcome Home—A Place to Belong, Grow & Live Independently

Currently estimated to open in 2027

Home is more than a place to live. It’s where routines take shape, confidence grows, and independence feels possible.

The Montage in Gresham, Oregon offers that sense of home for low-income residents, including  individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)—within a community built on dignity, accessibility, and choice.

Developing this accessible, affordable apartment building represents more than new housing. It demonstrates progress we have made as a community to the need for stability, inclusion, and a future where people with I/DD feel supported, connected, and truly at home.

What Is The Montage?

The Montage is a new, affordable apartment community designed to support independent living while offering access to on-site services and a welcoming neighborhood. Every detail—from building design to resident support—centers on creating a safe, inclusive place where people can thrive.

Project highlights:

  • 39 total apartments
    • 21 one-bedroom units
    • 12 two-bedroom units
    • 6 three-bedroom units
  • 38 affordable units at 60% Median Family Income (MFI)
  • 1 one-bedroom unit affordable at 50% MFI
  • 10 apartments reserved for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Deeply affordable rent made possible through Oregon Affordable Housing Tax Credit pass-through funding
  • Universal Design standards throughout the building
  • On-site support services for those who also receive services from ALSO

Designed for Accessibility and Community

Accessible bathroom and laundry

The Montage embraces Universal Design, creating homes that feel comfortable, intuitive, and welcoming for people of many abilities and life experiences.

Design features include:

  • Elevator access to every floor
  • Flexible, thoughtfully planned unit layouts
  • ADA wheelchair-accessible layouts
  • Elements that support mobility, sensory, and cognitive accessibility
  • Close access to transit, services, and neighborhood amenities

This design allows residents to live with confidence today—and adapt with ease as needs change.

About the Neighborhood

TriMet access

Located at Division & Burnside streets, The Montage places residents close to everyday essentials and community connection.

Nearby amenities include:

  • Public transportation options
  • Grocery stores, retail, and local services
  • Parks and outdoor spaces
  • Healthcare providers and community organizations

The nearby Gresham Transit Center offers access to the MAX Blue Line, FX2-Division bus rapid transit, and multiple bus routes, providing convenient connections to Portland, Hillsboro, and East Portland. This central location supports independence while keeping residents connected to opportunity.

Why This Project Matters

3 people in a kitchen

Across Oregon, many adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities face housing insecurity. Safe, affordable housing—designed with accessibility in mind and supportive services available in the region—remains limited.

The Montage helps change that by:

  • Expanding access to deeply affordable, service-enriched housing
  • Supporting independence while reducing the risk of homelessness
  • Creating stability that supports long-term health, employment, and community connection
  • Centering dignity, accessibility, and inclusion in every home
