ALSO provides person-centered residential care for adults with I/DD across Oregon. 24-hour support, real homes, real community. Contact us to get started.
Residential care is a type of disability support service where adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities live in a staffed, shared home setting and receive round-the-clock support. Unlike in-home support, which assists people in their existing residence, residential care provides both a home and a comprehensive team of support professionals.
ALSO’s residential care homes are real homes in real neighborhoods. Residents share everyday life with housemates, participate in their communities, and receive individualized support that evolves with their needs and goals.
ALSO uses a wrap-around approach, meaning we look at the whole person and tailor support across every area of daily life. Depending on an individual’s needs and goals, our residential services may include:
Every plan is individualized. What works for one person may look completely different for another, and that is exactly the point.
Choice sits at the center of everything we do at ALSO. Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have the right to make decisions about their own lives — where they live, who they live with, how they spend their days, and what goals they pursue. Our team works collaboratively with each individual and their support circle to ensure those choices are honored.
Home life represents only part of the picture. Connection to one’s community remains essential to a full and meaningful life. ALSO residential staff actively encourage and support residents to get involved in their communities, whether that means attending local events, pursuing employment, taking classes, or simply going for a walk in the neighborhood.
"The most important thing to me is knowing every day, by the end of the day, I did everything in my power to make sure the people we support are happy, healthy, and given the best supports out there."
ALSO offers multiple levels of residential and community-based support. Understanding the differences can help individuals and families choose the right fit:
| Service | Best For | Level of Support |
|---|---|---|
| Residential Care | Adults needing 24/7 staffed support in a shared home | High — around-the-clock |
| Supported Living | Adults who want to live more independently, with some assistance | Moderate — flexible, customized |
| In-Home Support | People living with family or in their own home who need targeted help | Varies — scheduled visits |
