ALSO Home is a dedicated initiative to provide inclusive and affordable housing for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Oregon. At ALSO, we provide 360-degree services, starting with housing. Housing stability is the foundation that allows individuals to thrive in their homes, workplaces, and communities

Statewide Impact

Oregon’s housing finance agency estimates that there are 2,650 units in 66 apartment buildings with set-aside preferences for individuals with developmental disabilities.

ALSO Apartments Housing Development

Currently in the design and pre-development phase.

Location

Gresham, OR Near the corner of NE Division and NE Burnside in Gresham, Oregon, and approximately 5 blocks from Gresham Transit Center. Close to schools, parks, farmers markets, shopping, and more.

Units

The 39-unit development includes:

 

  • 21 One-Bedroom Units (580 sq ft)
  • 12 Two-Bedroom Units (900 sq ft)
  • 6 Three-Bedroom Units (1,105 sq ft)

Accessibility and Affordability

  • 38 units set at 60% MFI (Median Family Income)
  • 1 unit at 50% MFI for enhanced accessibility
  • 10 units with preference for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

Resident Services

ALSO ensures comprehensive resident services, coordinating with All Good Northwest to deliver culturally responsive assistance, catering to People of Color, Immigrant, and Refugee communities. Services include Asset Building, Supported Employment, Residential Support, Children’s Services, Community Arts, and Eviction Prevention.

The project will adhere to Universal Design Standards, promoting accessibility and inclusivity for all residents, ensuring that individuals with varying abilities can thrive within the community.

Addressing the Disparity

With an estimated 24,000 people facing housing insecurity, this project aims to bridge the gap by offering secure, tailored housing and support.

Financial Viability

Financial Viability

The Oregon Affordable Housing Tax Credit pass-through will facilitate deeply discounted rents for the 10 units reserved for individuals with disabilities, bolstering the project’s affordability and long-term viability.

ALSO Apartments will positively impact the Gresham community by adding 39 units of much-needed affordable housing. By offering a range of housing options and comprehensive services, the project will foster a more inclusive, vibrant community.
